Today is Ghana National History Day: UPSA DISCOVERED.

As a National Executive of the Ghana Association of Writers, we have been invited to join the Department of History Education at the University of Education, Winneba, to celebrate this day.

I took particular interest in the history and meaning of UPSA's logogram  on display, and I could not keep this to myself but share with you, my Fellow Professional.

So the UPSA logo, which is sampled from the Adinkra symbols, was originally designed in the 1800s by Nana Kofi Adinkra, former King of Gyaman.
This is the  AKOBEN symbol, meaning "War Horn."
This symbol signifies Loyalty, Devotion and Service. It also means the alertness and readiness to serve a good cause.

Fellow Professional, the next time you view the AKOBEN-UPSA logo, see beyond just the logo—see LOYALTY;
 see DEVOTION;
see your READINESS TO SERVE A GOOD CAUSE.

My name is Sylvanus Bedzrah, a  loyal and devoted student of UPSA. I pledge to serve a good cause.

How about you?
