Ghana's former president John Dramani Mahama is set to resume his book tour for his highly talked about autobiography, My First Coup D’état: Memories from the Lost Decades of Africa, across Africa.

In 2012, ex-president Mahama (then Vice President) published his book, My First Coup D’état and concluded a four-city launch programme in the United States of America. The main launch of the book took place at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, New York on Tuesday, 10th July, 2012.
Following a successful and well-organized book-singing tour in four cities including New York, Washington DC, Houston and Los Angeles in the U.S.A, then Vice President Mahama planned together with his team to launch the book in major cities in Ghana- Accra, Kumasi, Ho, Tamale, etc.
However, these launch programmes were suspended when the leadership role of this country fell in his laps after the sudden passing of President John Atta-Mills on 24th July, 2012, and later successfully won his substantive term as president of Ghana.
Months after unsuccessful second term bid in Ghana's 2016 presidential election, Mr Mahama is set to embark on a launch and book-signing tour across Africa.
Speaking at a his book reading at the University of Ghana, Legon organised by the English department and the New York University, ex-president Mahama announced that plans are underway to launch in Nairobi, Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria.
"We have plan also to go to East Africa to launch in Nairobi, Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria," Mr Mahama said.
He read excerpts from the book and also shared with the audience his experiences and memories of life as a young kid in the 1960s.
Tuesday’s book reading was attended by former ministers of State, some known NDC party members, students of University of Ghana.
