University of Cape Coast (UCC) has emerged winners of this year's Commonwealth Day Debate competition.


The competition, which was held to commemorate this year's Commonwealth Day, came off Monday, 13th March, 2017 at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra.
The participants, mainly student parliamentarians from six tertiary institutions; UCC, UPSA, KNUST, UDS, Islamic University and UG, battled it out in this year's competition on the topic: "Should SHS education be free for all Ghanaians and is free SHS feasible in Ghana?".
At the end of the competition, representatives from UCC were adjudged winners and were awarded a Gold medal.
University of Ghana took a Silver medal for placing second followed by University for Development Studies wining Bronze medal. KNUST placed 4th, UPSA placed 5th and ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY took the 6th position in the debate competition.
Some witnessing schools included Zenith University, Accra Technical University, Accra Academy, among others.

The event was graced by some MP of Ghana's parliament.
