Isn’t it disheartening to have spent so much money, time and energy on a University Education, only for you to join the league of unemployed graduates after completion?
The menace of graduate unemployment has being with us from time immemorial.
Unfortunately, we are yet to see results as successive government’s effort to control the perturbing challenge proves fruitless.
It is in this light that the Local NUGS outfit of the University of Education, Winneba couldn’t have considered a better theme for this year’s Excellence Awards Night than “The Role of Academia in Helping to curb Unemployment in Ghana”
In throwing more light on the theme, Enoch Ansah, the local NUGS president bemoaned the prevailing unemployment rate in the country with its unfavourable effects on the development of the country.
In addition, he was poignant at government’s inability to attract into second cycle institutions graduates of education universities such as University of Education, Winneba and University of Cape Coast.
Meanwhile, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a business mogul and one of Ghana’s astute politician will be delivering the keynote address on the theme for the year.
Dr. Smith Graham, CEO of Fair Wages and Salary Commission Ghana, will be chairing the occasion with the strong backing of personalities such as Hon. Derrick Ohene Bokoe ( MP Upper West), Michael Paa-Quecy Adu (Fmr. NUGS President) and Mr. Julian Mawusi Kobina, the current NUGS president.
Watch this space as we countdown to the main event come 7th of April, 2017.
