The executive body of the Students' Representative Council has indeed been saddened by the event of last night. Our hearts painfully aches as we reflect on yesterday's tragedy (Gas explosion) and we stand with all those who were directly or indirectly affected by this mayhem.

The aforementioned event has rekindled and confirmed fears already harboured by the students populace regarding the possible threat of the Sel filling station which is just a few meters from the premises of our beloved institution.
We would like to state that we share in these sentiments but will like to call on all students to support the SRC with full force in this time of turmoil so that we can effectively and permanently deal with the issue at hand.
We would like to categorically state that we will not rest until we permanently resolve this issues and we will call on all student leaders and indeed all students on campus to also come on board and let us do this right.
We are therefore sending this strong signal to the management of the Sel filling station, EPA, NPA and the La Nkwantanan Municipal Assembly that if measures are not taken to close down the filling station, we the students of UPSA will be forced to
protect our lives by embarking on an intensive demonstration that will compel the Sel filling station to be closed with immediate effect.
We therefore employ all students to vehemently stand behind the SRC as we follow due processes for our grievance to be addressed properly.
All students should therefore prepare to hear and support the SRC executive council with the decision we will be making tonight on this matter.
This we believe will only be possible together.
Long live the SRC
Long live UPSA
And May The Good Lord Bless Us All.

Oha Evans
